6. Oxygen is required, for the oxidation of food. Oxygen is taken into the lungs and from lungs it is supplied to every individual cell in the body. Carbon dioxide produced during the oxidation process in each cell should be collected and transported to the lungs.
7. Several waste materials are generated during the oxidation of food in the cells. Therefore, they are to be collected and transported to various sites in the body for disposal.
8. Hormones are produced by endocrine glands present at different locations in the body. They work at place other than the place where they are produced. Therefore they are to be transported.
