Problem
Chapter 3 walks through several hundred years of history, leading into modern day theories about why offenders engage in criminal conduct. Is it a choice? a biological force? our personalities? or the influence of those around us? For this problem, choose ONE of the theories discussed in this chapter, and answer the following questions: Name the theory you chose, cite the pages where it is discussed, and very briefly explain or summarize it, saying why it is interesting to you. Do you agree with the theory? Why or why not? Can you relate this theory to your own life, or to the life of a person you know? Explain. (For example, I might discuss the somatotype theory and say, I personally am sort of a mesomorph, but I have not become a criminal, nor have any other other mesomorphs I know so I wonder if there are other factors at work . . . .)
