Select five illustrations of musical pieces. Choose at least one instance each from the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic periods. Use the University Library, Electronic Reserve Readings for ARTS/100, the Internet, or other resources to:
a) Research and examine your five selections.
b) Listen to each selection several times after conducting your research.
c) Make an explanation of each piece of music. Be sure to list the composition, composer, performer and style.
Explain what you heard. Describe your understanding of the use of rhythm, melody, harmony, tonality, texture and form in each illustration. Point out what you liked and did not like. Sum up your overall impressions.
