Motor nerves : Nerves which carry impulses from brain or spinal cord to effector organs are called efferent or motor nerves. Stimulation of motor nerves makes the muscles to contract. Thus they are responsible for movements of hands and legs.
Sensory nerves : These nerves carry information from sense organs or receptors to brain and spinal cord. They are also called as afferent nerves. Nerves from ears, nose, eyes, tongue and skin are sensory nerves.
Mixed nerves : Mixed nerves are provided with both sensory and motor nerve fibres.
