Microprocessor
A combination of IC's cal led a microprocessor. The data is processed in the microprocessor according to the instructions given through the input devices.
A microprocessor consists of three components. In the microprocessor there is a component called ‘Control Unit (CU)'. This control unit sends signals which are interpreted by a ‘decoder'.
The microprocessor also consists of a second component called ‘Memory' which stores the data and program temporarily. The last component of the microprocessor is called Arithmetic-logic-unit (ALU). The ALU does all arithmetic calculations, comparisons and other logical operations. The combination of CU, MEMORY and ALU is called ‘Central Processing Unit' (CPU)
