Slag : A waste product of iron and steel making, utilized to eliminate impurities. In particular, a by-product of the Blast Furnace that is formed while limestone combines along impurities in the ore.
Tapping : An operation in which molten metal is permitted to run out of a furnace.
Vacuum Degassing : A method utilized to eliminate impure gases from a molten metal by shaking it at extremely low pressures.
