Merits of Atomic fluorescence spectrometry:
Merits of the technique involve extremely low detection limits for favourable elements and the possibility of handling solid, liquid or gaseous samples, while most samples are converted into liquid before analysis. Instead, time-consuming sample preparation, required combining along with chromatography for speciation information, chemical and spectral interference, etc. are the limitations of the method. Except for similar favourable metals and metalloids such as Pb, Cd, Tl, Se, Te, As, Sb, etc. there is no special benefits over more established AAS. Therefore, it is not extremely popular.
