Mechanical Engineering Assignment - Advance Computer Aided Design
Manipulate the User Coordinate System (UCS) and World co-ordinate system (WCS) to suit construction requirements.
Task 1 - Design and model the upper Jaw for the vice, use multiple planes to allow the construction of features needed to produce the finished component. Include screen images of the planes used
Create bounded geometry for extrusion and revolving
Task 2 - Detail which elements you have constructed by using both Extruded bounded geometry and Revolved bounded geometry, include screen shots of the bounded geometry in your assignment submission.
Produce sections from solid model.
Task 3 - From the solid model assembly produce two sectioned elevations
(A) End elevation of the Vice base only.
(B) Stepped End elevation of the completed assembly.
Demonstrate the use of construction techniques
Task 4 - Take screen images of the range of construction techniques used to generate a range of components and explain the process that has been used.
Produce file containing mass, surface area, radius of gyration and center of gravity
Task 5 - (A) From the analysis evaluate the following parameters - Mass of the vice base, overall surface area of the vice base, radius of gyration and C.O.G. Discuss the purpose of these values and how are they are of benefit to engineers
Task 6 - Produce a report detailing the uses of solid modelling in the manufacturing process. Include in your analysis aspects such as, visualization techniques, Assembly methods, Design for manufacture, Finite Element Analysis. Computational Fluid Dynamics and Computer Aided. Manufacture.
