MATERNITY AND CHILD HEALTH & FAMILY PLANNING -
1. The health centers give necessary information, guidance & assistance to mother before & after delivery pregnant woman needs more nutritive food, especially Ca, Fe and vitamins. They are supposed to avoid alcohol, drugs and tobacco as it may cause abnormalities to child.
2. Delivery must be in well equipped hospital.
3. The health centre follows immunization schedule -
AGE VACCINATION
3-12 months DPT - 3 doses at intervals of 4-6 weeks
Polio (oral) - 3 doses at intervals of 4-6 weeks
BCG (intradermal)
9-15 months Measles - one dose DPT - Booster dose Polio - Booster dose
5-6 yrs. DT - booster dose
Typhoid vaccine - 2 doses at interval of 1-2 months
10 yrs. Tetanus toxoid - booster dose
Typhoid toxoid - booster dose
16 yrs. Tetanus toxoid - booster dose
Typhoid toxoid - booster dose
Any age Hepatitis - B
Mother during pregnancy
(a) Previously immunized - One booster dose of tetanus toxoid 4 weeks before expected delivery date
(b) Non immunised - 2 doses of tetanus toxoid 1st between 16-24 weeks & 2nd between 24-32 weeks of pregnancy.
4. The health centers educate new couple about advantage of small family.
