Scenario:
The library has just opened in a new building in the center of town. The building process did not go smoothly due to conflict over building design from local senior groups. Public comment on the new building design included concerns over increased space for children's and teen's activities, more space for computers, and less space for books. Now that the library is open, local seniors continue to voice concern that the library has more entertainment features and is not the traditional, quiet library they once knew.
Your Library Board has directed the library staff to mend fences. They have requested a senior outreach program that will convey the library as a place for senior groups. Your library director has identified a project team and has directed you to provide leadership to the group. The Library Board expects a project plan for reaching seniors within the month
The Challenge: Currently there is nobody on staff specializing in senior-related services. The library has had a long policy of recruiting children's librarians to support an emerging economy that attracts young families to the area.
