Macy's announced Thursday it's shutting down 100 of its brick-and-mortar stores across the country, with most of them set to close their doors early next year. The major retailer currently has 675 locations. The company has not released a list of which stores it will close. But it's been confident about the New York market in recent years, investing $400 million in its flagship store at Herald Square, another $100 million to fix up the Brooklyn store, and adding a store in the Bronx last year. The company says it will also put more resources into expanding its presence online. Macy's has closed around 90 stores and built just 13 over the past six years. (NY1.COM)
