Writing a Report - Instructions
In many work situations, you will be ask you to find information on a topic and write a report. This means you will have to do some research and present your findings in a clear and concise way in written form.
It will be an individual written report on a topic chosen from a given list and based on some research you will have done.
Your report should be organised in the following way:
- Introduce your topic and your aim (research question)
- Describe your research methods
- Present your findings
- Conclusion and recommendations

Part 1 Choosing your Topic
1. Select a topic from a list your teacher will give you.
2. Identify one or two research questions.
3. Write a proposal paragraph outlining the aim of your report.
Part 2 Researching
1. Research information about your topic.
2. Prepare bullet point notes of your findings (no sentences, bullet points and key words only, maximum 100 words).
3. Prepare a references list - APA format.
4. Keep copies of your articles (at least 3) and
highlight key points.
Part 3 Writing the Report
- Write a report describing your research procedure and findings. Your teacher will give you back your notes from Part 2.
- At least 600 words.
- In-class, test conditions.
