World History from 1500 to the 20th Century
- L.P. Hartley's novel, The G0-Between (1953): "The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there." Hartley meant that people in the past behaved and understood their behaviour differently from the way we do today. What, in your opinion were the three to five principal differences between our ancestors of the period 1500-1750 and ourselves? Provide examples from the lectures, the weekly readings, the text, and any other sources from the period you choose, and as much as possible defend your arguments with evidence from more than one part of the world?
