LOW ALLOY CREEP RESISTING ELECTRODES AND ELECTRODES FOR CRYOGENIC APPLICATIONS
The flux coating contains small amount of alloying elements like Cr, Mo and sometimes V for creep resistance. By addition of these alloys these steels become air hardening and therefore preheating and stress relieving after the welding are a must. The electrodes in this category are known as 5 Cr-½ Mo. For cryogenic applications the addition of Ni 3.5 % is very useful. Such steels can be used u p t o ( i . e ) 5 0° C to - 60 ° C with 2.5 % Ni and upto 100 ° C with 3.5% Ni.
