Locate a crime story of sexting and/or cyberbullying

Assignment task: (Sexting/Cyberbullying/Social Media) Because of the generation I grew up in, I did not have to encounter many of the issues teenagers and young adults do today with regards to "sexting," cyberbullying, etc. There was no such thing as "social media." When I was an undergraduate student working towards my bachelor's degree in the late 1980's, I didn't even have a computer. All of my papers for classes were typed on an electronic typewriter. Forget looking anything up via the internet. There was no such thing widely available to the public. To respond to this selection,

(Sexting/Cyberbullying/Social Media): Locate a crime story of sexting and/or cyberbullying that occurred in the United States in the past year or two and explain the situation in enough detail so that someone who knows nothing about this story will understand what happened. This story can either be from the news or a personal story, if you know of a situation from perhaps your high school or town/city that happened. What is being done to prevent situations like the one you described from happening, or is anything being done at all? For example, have any policies been instituted because of what happened, or are there trainings for people? Who is responsible to prevent situations like the one you described from happening in the first place? For example, does the responsibility rest with the parents, school administrators, children themselves, etc? These are just thoughts to get you thinking about the situation. According to police reports, predatory adults are taking advantage of the willingness of young people to experiment with their sexuality over the internet by engaging in sexually explicit chat and exposing their bodies in front of a webcam. Governments have launched education campaigns aiming to educate young people about the dangers of the internet. In your opinion, is what's being done enough? What else can be done? This is an opportunity for you to put on your thinking cap surrounding this issue and provide an idea or two on how to prevent these situations from arising in the first place. Why do you believe criminal justice students should be informed about situations involving sexting/cyberbullying?
