Linear Equations
We'll begin the solving portion of this chapter by solving linear equations.
Standard form of a linear equation:
A linear equation is any equation which can be written in the form
ax + b =0
where a and b are called as real numbers and x is a variable. It form is called the standard form of a linear equation. Note that mostly linear equations will not begin in this form. Also, the variable may or may not be an x thus don't get too locked into seeing an x always there.
