Assignment task:
Feminist perspectives: critical/ essential to our understanding of the world?
What, in your opinion are the limitations of mainstream historiography?
Based on a close reading of the text, explore:
1. If it is possible that Fink's approach to the study the history of meatpacking in Iowa is different from a 'standard approach'?
2. If there is a reason why some people are more visible in standard narratives of Midwestern history than others? Why?
How, does a feminist perspective contribute to newer insights in Fink's analysis. In the interest of the larger good in society should we all be feminists? Argue for or against with necessary justification.
How does Fink's analysis gain in importance in light of recent developments in the US, namely the US Supreme Court's judgement related to abortion.
