Properties:
1. It is a heavy, soft and malleable metal with blue gray colour.
2. It shows a metallic luster when freshly cut but it gets oxidized soon.
3. It can be easily rolled into sheets and pipes or can be extruded to form pipes but cannot be cut into fine wires.
4. It is corrosion resistant.
Uses: Lead is used of the manufacturing of plates of storage batteries. It is used in covering electric cables. It is used as lead accumulators. Tin lead-alloy is used for soldering wires.
