Law Society of England
However the Law Society of England is a body corporate constituted through the Law Society of England Act. Therefore its objects or functions are, among others as;
- For maintain and improve the standards of conduct and learning of the legal profession in England;
- For facilitate the acquisition of legal knowledge by members of the legal profession and others;
- For assist the government and the courts in all matters affecting legislation and practice of the law and the administration in England;
- For protect and assist the public in England in all matters touching, ancillary or incidental to the law. Further it is, possibly in pursuance of this object that it intends to prosecute those involved that in what has become known like the "Goldenberg Scandal".
However an advocate with a practising certificate or document is required to be a member of the Law Society.
