Basic Requirements for Essay 3:
1-adheres to course formatting guidelines
2-uses MLA citation and formatting (including heading in folder, page numbers, citation, no title page, Works Cited page as its own last page, like other papers) - you can use APA if you'd like
3-length: Between 1,200 and 1,500 words (not including Works Cited page)
4-contains no block quotes (quotes exceeding three typewritten lines of an essay)
5-uses the citation and information from five credible sources - same sources from the annotated bibliography (this does not include the stories you are using: it can have as many primary sources (stories) as you want, but must have five secondary sources)
6-must be a narrowed version of the list on this sheet of topics
7-must be thesis driven (argument driven, proving something)
8-must not contain the use of any .com or encyclopedic sources (including, but not limited to: About.com, Wikipedia, Answers.com, eHow, ivillage, an encyclopedia (print or web based) - sources must be obtained through the GMU library (catalog or databases)
9-has and introduction, body paragraphs (multiple body paragraphs), and a conclusion (the conclusion and introduction should contain no citation)
10-last sentence of introduction is a thesis statement (what the paper is arguing)
11-contains no use of second or first person point of view
