Describe why it is significant to use more than one kind of font in the layout design? Consider and cite an instance of a piece of media which uses font types efficiently; describe why it is efficient. On the other hand, what are the dangers of using too many fonts in one layout design? Consider and cite an illustration of a piece of media which uses font types ineffectively; describe why it is ineffective.
Why are graphics significant to layout design? How do use of graphics change across the media? What factors or strategies inform the use of graphics? Consider main purpose and audience. (For illustration, use of graphics in a business presentation or document versus use of graphics in advertisements throughout a major sporting event)?
Focus of the Final Project:
Write down a Feature Story (800 to 1,000 words) on a topic and for a magazine of their preference. This project needs students to incorporate the main concepts described during the course, like applying different media communication tools, recognizing audience, gathering information and research and understanding the editing process. The Feature Story must explain a student's comprehension of the readings and class discussions and also the implications of new knowledge in the field of media writing and editing.
