Assignment Problem:
Essay waste management in Uganda.
According to the UN-Habitat, state of the world's cities, 2008/09, page 129, a major flood in Surat, India, in 1994 resulted in an outbreak of a plague-like disease, and the official inquiry cited uncollected solid waste of which plastics are of greater percentage blocking drains. The disease caused panic country-wide and while the citizens blame the municipality, the public authorities in turn blamed the citizens for their lack of civic sense.
Municipal solid waste (MSW) is what people leave after their everyday life activities, and includes items such as paper, plastic garbage, metals, electronics, and textiles. These leftovers are damaging for the environment, and its their volumes grow with the human population. The waste issue is especially urgent for places with a high density of citizens, therefore different strategies of waste management are applied by governments and environmental organizations. This paper aims to discuss the methods of usage and recycling of municipal solid waste.
A Case in Uganda is Kinyinji John who is a resident of Kampala city on plot 4 Hoima Road. He has a filled-up toilet which is inconveniencing the proximate community with disorders smell and fly nuisances and it's a threat to public Health. The local Authority has been inspecting the premise and given the advice but in vain. You are a newly recruited Public Health Officer in the area; you have been assigned by your superior to address the situation.
Problem 1:
- Explain the formal procedure you would use to abate that nuisance
- Design a Health education message to the author of the nuisance.
- Design a nuisance notice to the author of the nuisance
