It's quite common for students to take one or more gap years between high school and university. Trond Beldo Klausen studied Danish students and found that mature students (those who start and graduate older from their undergraduate degree) typically start their career earning lower wages, and than earn less in every year of their working life than those who attend university soon after high school, at least those who work in the private sector. Why might some students opt to take time off between high school and university anyway? Please give me one page response if possible.
