Problem: Senge (2006) published a book called the Fifth Discipline, accompanied by workbooks and videos that health care organizations still use today. According to Senge (2006) systems thinking encourages organizations to become perpetual learners. In systems thinking, individuals begin to see how unrelated pieces of the organization might be related to a larger ecosystem. It is this big picture view that lends to characteristics of a learning organization: personal mastery, mental models, shared vision, team learning, and systems thinking (Senge, 2006). Have you heard of Dr. Senge and the Fifth Discipline? Is there a resource that your organization uses to guide systems thinking? Must include 2 peer-reviewed related references.
