Problem
Sociobiologists propose it is likely that some (but by no means all) human behavioural, psychological and social characteristics can be linked to genetic inheritance and our evolution during the EEA. Joseph Henrich, for example, proposes that we are genetically hard-wired to be effective social learners. He contends that while specific behaviours are clearly learned, the capacity to learn from others, is more highly developed in our species than it is in others and probably innate.
Is there anything about our genus and its existence for two million years or more which suggests it is reasonable to assume some of our social and psychological traits are innate? Alternatively, do the arguments and experiments proposed by sociobiologists tell us nothing convincing to suggest that socialization is not the sole source of our social behaviours and psychological traits?
