Many farmers craft unique corn mazes in their fields after the growing season. These huge puzzles challenge both children and adults, and increase revenue for farmers. Suppose a farmer has constructed a corn maze so that the mean time for completion is 1.5 hours with variance 0.57 hour2.
A random sample of 18 people entering the maze was selected, and the time (in hours) to complete the puzzle was recorded for each. The sample standard deviation was s = 0.34. Is there any evidence the completion time variance is different from the intended variance? Use a = 0.05 and assume the underlying distribution is normal.
