Is the claim supported by numbers in nutrition facts table

Assignment

This assignment will involve searching food labels (either in the store, or online), uploading pictures of your labels, and answering a series of questions about what they say. The questions are based on information in Section 3 - Food Labelling.

Answer each question comparing a pair of similar foods (of your choice). The two food products must represent the same food product (two brands of the same food, or two foods used to replace each other)

Photos of food products must be submitted with your assignment, and must be clear enough for the instructors to be able to see the label details--images taken from product websites are also acceptable. You must use full sentences in your responses. Also, please use Times New Roman (or similar) font, font size 12, and your answers should not exceed the 2-page limit for this assignment (double-spaced). Images are not part of this 2-page limit.

Choose two similar products, one of which is supposed to replace the other as a 'healthier' option. Make sure at least one product has a nutrition claim.

1. Is the nutrition claim a 'nutrient content' claim, or a 'health' claim?

2. Is the claim supported by the numbers in the Nutrition Facts Table?

3. Is the Nutrition Facts Table the old version, or the new version? How can you tell?

4. What voluntary nutrients were listed on the Nutrition Facts Table? Why do you think these are listed?
