Problem: Once, for me on a trip taking my middle school students, we have a two hour delay waiting for a late boat to Mount Vernon. We went with a backup plan and walked the students to a nearby Washington DC fort, Ft. McNair. While there, we accidentally met President Clinton who was there jogging. He came over and talked to our students about the history of the fort. It was a lucky, lucky backup plan. And... now you know how long I've been teaching! My question is it a good Idea to have a back up trip as a history teacher?
