Discussion:
Policy prompts: Three times throughout the semester, we will focus on a particular policy-oriented question for classroom discussion. To prepare for the seminar discussion, each student will need to write a concise 2-page paper responding either "yes" or "no" to the question that is posed, providing sound analysis and evidence. These policy papers, which are designed as persuasive exercises, will be collected at the beginning of the class session, and will not be accepted late. During the class period, every student is expected to participate in the discussion, presenting their point of view. Each student should come to class prepared to offer between 3-5 points to support the position they outlined in the policy paper.
