Part -1:

Introduction

The task/study is to survey the problems in almost all parts of Oman for all kinds of industries. Analytical chemists use their knowledge of chemistry, imtrumentation. and statistics to solve problems in different industrials fields and areas before, during and after any process. For example. the measurements of composition and components by chemical analysis. Aims to assure the safety and quality of food. pharmaceuticals, refineries. process industries and dc mineralization of water ; to assure compliance with environmental and other regulations; to support the legal process; to help physicians diagnose diseases; and to provide measurements and documentation essential to trade and commerce.

This assessment is chosen to investigate the problems and to be aware of different instruments used for sampling and analysis methods including their procedures using latest technology in the industrial areas to diagnose different components that facilitate analytical chemistry.

Methodology:

a. Choose the topic

b. Collect information and debate about the topic by discussing among the group members.

c. Look at causes. effects. and the nature of things

d. Browse for different research topics - "instruments". interviews, questionnaires. to produce new awareness on a particular topic.

Recommendations:

The continuous assessment should comprise the following points

1. Title page

2. Introduction, Signi?cance of study: Discuss the signi?cance of the analysis

3. Sample and sampling procedure: in this section give a brief idea about sampling and sampling procedures involved in the particular topic chosen for chemical analysis, the validity and reliability of the data used. the assumptions. and possible limitations to these assumptions, or other conclusions.

4. Instrumentation: Collect the information about the instrument used for the analysis

5. Procedure for data Collection: This presents the data collected via the methodology described above.

6. Findings (Results and Analysis of Your Data): A discussion of what you did and discovered. including why and how you feel it is signi?cant.

7. Discussion of 'limitation/Findings: This section should describe the real or potential faults with the methodology. materials used, or other factors that could have influenced on your findings.

8. Concluslons: A summary of the nature and application of the "new acquaintance" represented in your report. Also include possible contraindications of your conclusions along with proposed ideas based on your ?ndings.

Part -2:

The task/study is to survey the instrumental analysis of GC or HPLC which are modern and sophisticated instruments used in separation of mixture into its constituents (elements or atoms or ions)

Instrumental analysis covers a wide range of techniques and an even broader range of samples including solids. liquids and gases from raw materials to ?nished Mugs. Analysis may involve using a particular or combination of techniques (GC-MS) and may be related to a speci?c mblem to solve or net of roeess research and development.

Methodology:

a. Choose any one topic mentioned above
a Collect information and debate about the topic by discussing among the group members.

(GC-air pollution. protein test .......... ..

HPLC-blood samples, sea water ........ ..)

c. Browse for different research topics to get a new awareness and the advanced technology used in instrumental analysis

Recommendations:

The continuous assessment should comprise the following points

I. Title page

2. Introduction: what exactly the topic being chosen and why it was chosen; what the relevance or importance.

3. Chromatographic parameters: Discuss any i parameter( eg.. retention factor)

4. Band Broadening: Discuss about chromatographic peaks its importance and ef?ciency of operation to get narrow bands while using GC/HPLC separators

5. Gas supply and pressure-temperature control: Discuss about gases required and gas supply management and pressure- temperature programming.

6. Sampling technique: Discuss the importance of sample injection and technique

7. Columns and detectors

8. Findings (Results and Analysis of Your Data): A discussion of what you did and discovered. including why and how you feel it is signi?cant.

9. Discussion of 'Limitations': This section should describe the real faults with the methodology.

10. Conclusions

Part -3:

The task is to standardize a sample solution by Redox titrations/ Precipitation titrations to determine concentrations of the sample
Methodology:

a. Choose the topic
b. Collect information and debate about the topic by discussing among the group members.

Recommendations:

The continuous assessment should comprise the following points

1. Title page

2. Introduction: Discuss about the topic chosen. (Eg. Standardizing a solution of KMNO4, by redox titration with Fe+2 Ions and with Oxalic Acid by Titration to Determine Concentrations)

3. Signi?cance of study

4. Procedure for data Collection: This presents the data collected for the experimentconducted or performed

5. Findings (Analysis of Your Data): A discussion of what you did and discovered, including why and how you feel it is significant.

6. Calculations of concentrations ad its graphical presentation

7. Conclusions: A summary of the nature and application of the titrations represented in your report. Also include possible contraindications of your conclusions. along with proposed ideas based on your findings.

8. Justify and Evaluate: The conclusion is justified with reference to theory and/or literature values. The reliability of the data and the role of measurement uncertainty is addressed and explained.
