Problem: On March 12, 2020, the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Maine. Over the last year, we have come to better understand the virus, how it spreads, who is most susceptible to it and how to prevent infections. For this week, I'd like you to investigate the COVID-19 infection and vaccination (% final dose) rates based on total confirmed and probable cases for Androscoggin County. Please use the 2018 census of 107,697 as the total population for the county. In addition, discuss the impact of how age and/or race play an important role in infection rates (e.g., is there a particular age- or racial-group with higher or lower infection/vaccination rates?). Be sure to mention the social impacts of these disparities and how they can impact these populations (both positive and negatively).
