Introduced to the notion of the gospel of popularity

Problem 1: Could it be that our children's inability to adapt to the pace of technological innovation and the digital messaging bombarding their daily lives combined with society's larger unresolved answers to such issues result in children seeking their own adaptation through physical or emotional isolation?  Perhaps not being "alone" per se, but failing to create meaningful and productive relationships that lack empathy, sympathy or an attachment to others?

Problem 2: We are introduced to the notion of "The Gospel of Popularity" and I don't think its too much of a stretch to imagine what that looks like in a digitally and technology-driven world.  If something gets the most likes, shares, etc.....it must be true, what must be done.....you get the picture.

But what about regard for the reputation of individuals - both those sharing an idea and perhaps those being criticized by it?  What about the vetting of the best ideas?

Could in fact, this "Gospel of Popularity" crush our two most of American values - "freedom" and "democracy"?

Problem 3: As our children are often the most vulnerable due to their lack of life's experiences, what skill sets should we be developing in them to adapt to and be successful in a digital world? (Perhaps there are adults who would benefit from the same opportunities).
