Problem: The nurse is caring for a client in the intensive care unit diagnosed with acute thyrotoxicosis.? The client did not respond to the provided antithyroid therapy and required a subtotal thyroidectomy. Postoperatively, the nurse assesses the client. Slight hoarseness in voice noted with frequent swallowing and a feeling of fullness at the incision site. Scant serosanguineous drainage on dressing approximately 1 cm wide by 1 cm in height. Vital signs are T 98.8° F (37.1° C), P 82, RR 19, BP 112/68, pulse oximetry reading 96% on 2 L/min via nasal cannula with humidification. ?
