Independent variable is categorical (IV-1 and IV-0),
Dependent variable is continuous (DV).
When controlling for C, IV-1 have [higher/more OR lower/less/fewer] DV than do IV-0.
Statistics: Analysis of Variance, Analysis of Covariance (Regression with dummy variables)
Example: When controlling for sex, age and level of aerobic exercise, a student who watches four or more hours of television on a typical school night has a higher BMI than a student who watches less than four hours of television on a typical school night.
Note that the dependent variable BMI is prefaced by the word "higher" which implies that BMI is continuous.
