Independent films had a rise in the 1960s where many filmmakers such as Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese and others worked on very inexpensive films and slowly became in demand because of their innovative storytelling and film techniques. Then, the independent industry started to die down in the late 1970s to the 1980s. But, rose again in the 1990s with filmmakers such as Bryan Singer, Robert Rodriguez, Quinton Tarantino and Christopher Nolan gained attention for the same reason as those in the 1960s. Independent films are considered more interesting and engaging than big-budget films? Why?
