Problem
A. Ask your classmates or the RNs if there is a Patient who would benefit from patient teaching and what areas s/he needs to focus on. Then, visit the patient and ask if you could come back later and teach them about the topic. Next, grab a computer and do a quick "just in time research on the subject. Finally, find out what materials are available in Epic or the unit. Review all materials. Put together a mini lesson to present to the patient. Use as many visuals, models, or actual devices as you can pull together.
B. As you are reaching the topic, also research principles of adult learning. Incorporate at least two into your mini lesson.
C. Deliver your lesson to the patient.
D. My reflection about your mini-lesson, what I focused on, and why and how it went. Incorporate at least five teaching points and two principles of adult learners.
