Problem: In what ways can emotional intelligence help and hinder older adults in decision making? What type of attributions have you made today? What were the conditions surrounding each? How do you engage in collaborative cognition in your everyday life? What might we be able to do as a society to encourage positive age stereotypes and to discourage negative ones? Chapter: What is the difference between a trait and a mood? If a trait is supposed to remain stable, then how do we know whether evidence of change in traits is really about traits, or is really reflecting changing moods? Think about an older person that you have known over a long period of time. What personality characteristics appear to have been stable over time? What characteristics have changed?
