Problem
Observations play a central role in the sciences. At the same time, it is a general scientific theoretical insight that observations often have to be interpreted before they can be used to confirm or disprove a theory.
i. In what sense did Galileo's observations of the sunspots have to be interpreted?
ii. Discuss whether emotions can assist the interpretation of observations in a scientific context. Use Jaggar's article "Love and knowledge: Emotions in feminist epistemology" as a starting point.
