In this term project, you are asked to prepare a lunch box menu for five consecutive days (January 4th - January 8th) for a group of construction workers working in Qatar. You can use the following website for getting nutrition and pricing information about various food items.
https://www.neos-guide.org/content/diet-problem-solver
If you wish, you may also add some local flavors to your menus, granted that you have the correct nutrition figures of the items you wish to include.
In the website, 11 different nutrition categories are listed for each food item. It is up to you, which ones to include in your menu.
I do not specify any constraints. Consider, for whom you are preparing the food, what they would like, what they need; as well as the time of the year that you are preparing the menus. You will derive your own constraints with these considerations.
Formulate your problem and try to solve it using LINGO. Keep in mind that, the free version of LINGO has highly limited capacity: 150 constraints, 300 variables, 30 integer variables. You should figure out alternative formulation or solution methods if your formulation exceeds LINGO's capacity.
You will submit four documents:
LINGO code (you will get higher grades if you use sets notation)
LINGO solution report
LINGO range report
Project report explaining your modeling assumptions, how you formulated, how you decomposed the problems into sub-problems (if needed), list of five-day menus, and interpretation of the results.
