Question: In some plants, incentives exist to supply heat to the process via one (or a few) large, efficient fired heaters. The energy is transferred to consumers throughout the plant via an oil stream with good heat transfer, heat capacity, and thermal stability properties. Design a control strategy for the process in Figure that satisfies the following objectives, listed in order of decreasing importance.
(a) Control T3 and T4.
(b) Control T6 and T7.
(c) Determine the best value for the fired-heater outlet temperature, i.e., the value that satisfies id) and (d) at minimum fuel.
d) Recover as much energy as possible at the highest temperature. You may add sensors and add or delete piping and valves.
