Assess the Importance of Project Scope Planning for a Project of Your Choosing
For this week, you will need to research and identify a project of your choosing (examples - house painting, renovation of a kitchen, new business IT system, etc.) that will be the central example in the completion of this and future assignments throughout this course. The first step in your process once a project has been selected will be the development of a scope statement. The scope statement describes the project and outlines project goals that need to be met in order to be successful.
Once a project has been identified you will be required to build scope statement that will include the objective of the project, goals, a clear description of the project and any related tasks that need to be accomplished. Ensure the project selected is easily accessible to you; if you have the opportunity, converse with a real-world project manager regarding your project, ideas, and actions.
In a paper, explain and assess what project scope planning is as a process and how you plan to implement the process for your chosen project. Include in your explanation the scope statement, consideration of Life-Cycle Phases and participant roles. Indicate why you believe plans fail and justify the importance of a project charter in the project scope planning process.
Support your paper with a minimum of three (3) external resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.
