In a moral dilemma, no matter what action you take, some evil will result, or two accepted moral principles will meaningfully conflict. Moral dilemmas produce most of the hard cases in applying ethical theory.
Discuss the following moral dilemma:
You have discovered that your parents have embezzled a large sum of money from the corporation they work for. If you report them they will go to jail and their lives will be ruined. If you don't report them, the owners of the business will be ruined financially, and the company will probably go bankrupt. How do you handle this situation?
Suppose further that you also work for the company, so if the company goes bankrupt, you will lose your job. Would that change your answer?
