Assignment task:
You have now proposed a topic for your final project and completed extensive research for credible sources. For this week's Critical Thinking assignment you will create detailed outline for your final essay. The outline will include your thesis statement, topic sentences, and support for your claims.
Your thesis statement should articulate your overall argument, and it should forecast the main points you will make in the body of the paper. The thesis statement and the topic sentences should align with one another, and the points should be included in the same order.
For each body paragraph in your final paper you should indicate the claim you will make and the evidence you will provide to support it, in the form of a bulleted list, with proper APA in-text citations.
As you develop your outline, keep in mind that you want to synthesize the information you have found through your research, and that your arguments will be most persuasive when they are based on multiple sources. For this reason, as much as possible you want to support each claim with information from more than one source, and you want to rely more on paraphrasing than on quoting.
The majority of your support should be paraphrased, with only occasional use of direct quotes.
