Question

Evidence-based practices are key to ensuring desired sentencing outcomes are achieved. However, sometimes such practices don't "feel" like punishment and they seem to focus exclusively on offenders and ignore victims in the process. How would you explain the importance of supporting evidence-based practices in corrections to victims and victims rights groups? Why should they support them over more traditional, retributive measures?
