Importance of pituitary gland
- Pitutary gland is very small and it is about the size of a large pea seed.
- It is very important as it controls the functions of all the other endocrine glands in the body. It is therefore called as the "MASTER GLAND" of the body.
- It is attached to the underside of the brain by a stalk.
- It serves as a link between nervous system and endocrine system.
- It has three lobes - Anterior, Intermediate (Middle) and posterior lobes.
