Immunisation in relation to the case study

Case Study:

Amara is a 34 year old first time mother of 7-week-old Nala and is attending her local medical clinic for a post birth check-up. In the course of her appointment Amara tells the GP she does not want to immunise Nala as she has heard there are links between immunisation and autism. She also believes that due to ‘herd immunity’ her child is not at risk of contracting diseases included within the vaccination schedule in Australia. The GP suggests that Amara speak to the Practice Nurse who provides immunisation service in this clinic.
