Immanuel Kant and Michael Walzer are having a game of chess, and have been waiting for their coffee for a while. The coffee arrives, and Mr, Kant declares: ‘Well, one can die after all: it is but dying; and in the next world, thank God! there is no drinking of coffee, and consequently no - waiting for it.' He takes a sip, and after a pause, he looks at Mr. Walzer and asks him: Mr. Walzer, do you think democratic leaders can win wars better than dictators? Do you think that democracies are better at avoiding wars than non-democracies and why? Considering the hypothesis above: What are your thoughts on these two questions? Your answer should be based on your own analysis of the readings that we have done in class. I am not asking you about what these two thinkers think, though you would need to take that into consideration in your analysis.
