Guide to the essay for the template

The examination requires exercising higher-order thinking skills involving analysis, synthesis, and judgment. Thus, this portion of the examination offers the chance to demonstrate the critical thinking and writing skills oft supporting successful essays. The essay portion of the examination is due at the end of term and be must between 19-25 pages in length; excluding the title page. Further, all cited sources must be peer-reviewed journal articles or essays you created during specialization courses.

The essay shall contain the

Section I: Conceptual Knowledge

Section I emphasizes the synthesis of theories and conceptual principles underpinning your program/specialization. You are expected to identify, summarize, differentiate, and compare three of your best essays submitted during specialization courses. Additionally, you must utilize two additional articles while discussing the three essays. After discussing the three essays, choose one essay and discuss how it contributes to your understanding of your specialization.

Section II: Synthesis

Section II requires you to discuss the application of essays to professional, research-orientated, or other real life situation while remaining mindful of social, ethical, and cultural concerns. Your goal is to compound and differentiate the essays from Section I into an address of the following prompts:
- Illustrate how the essays identify and discuss practices commonplace in your pro-gram/specialization.
- Explain how the essays identify and describe the consumer, agents, and managers involved in the essays' topics and dis-cussions.
- Explain how the essays identify and describe ex-ternal forces and how they influence the application of the essays to real life problems.
- Relate the consumer, agents, managers, prac-tices, and external forces into a holistic under-standing demonstrating your ability to view all three essays as part of a greater whole.

Section III: Directions for Future Inquires

Section III requires you to evaluate the previous two sections as to uncover potential direction for future inquires. You are expected to address the following prompts:

- Compare and contrast the three essays and discuss how they agree and conflict.
- Discuss the origins of their agreements and conflicts.
- Offer and justify two po-tential lines of inquiry helping to understand their agreements and possibly resolving their conflicts.

Section IV: Annotated References
All cited papers must have corresponding annotated references located in the references section of the essay. Please note that the annotated references count toward the page count; for a maximum of four pages. The template contains a sample reference.
Advice and Additional Requirements for the Exam

You may wish to consider the following advice while researching, prewriting, and drafting your essay:

- Take time, every day, to learn something about APA formatting and check your draft. You can learn about APA formatting at Purdue's OWL.

- It is wise to prewrite, brainstorm, and outline before drafting.

- You may visit the writing center up to three times for APA help during the examination.
