Problem:
U.S. companies that were benefitting from lower prices for components purchased in China, were forced to source their means of production elsewhere. Some companies attempted to absorb the cost but it became increasingly inefficient and companies that were located in or near China were forced to move out. Geopolitical tensions and world trade impact (Irwin, 2017). These trade wars create tensions not only between the U.S. and China but also allies that have to remain loyal to each superpower. "The trade war led to a broader deterioration in U.S.-China relations, with implications for technology policy, security, and global trade. Other countries were caught in the crossfire, adjusting their own trade strategies to minimize disruption" (Irwin, 2017). There is no doubt that trade wars have a negative impact on our everyday life, but sometimes you have to stand up to a bully and fight back in the best way that you can. China has been taking advantage of the United States by: Dumping: the act of selling goods in the U.S. at unrealistic prices, designed to run competitors out of business. "Dumping occurs when a country exports products at prices lower than the cost of production. Countries like China and India have been accused of dumping goods, such as steel and solar panels, into the U.S. market, undercutting domestic producers" (Wild & Wild, 2019 ).
