Problem:
The lack of interoperability in health IT is a significant barrier to realizing the maximum value of EHRs with regard to improving the quality care delivery. There are many challenges that the industry must overcome before realizing true interoperability. Identify one challenge or barrier, find a real world example of its impact on providers or patients and either 1) suggest a solution or 2) discuss how current health IT industry initiatives are attempting to address the challenge. This topic is covered extensively by healthcare and healthcare IT journals.
